Hundreds of years ago, the wedding vase was an ancient vessel used in the traditional wedding ceremonies of the Native Americans. The urn-shaped vase typically had a looped handle on each side which represented the unity of marriage, and the space inside the “loops” represented the circle of life. Wedding vases were, and still are, a symbol of happiness.
Today, wedding vases are most often used to support a floral bouquet or centerpiece at the wedding ceremony or reception, and may not hold the symbolism of the past. Modern wedding vases are often sleek and modern, clear glass, or metallic finishes.
